Lazio, Valentano, Casale Rosati

Casale Rosato is not a mine or a quarry, but a natural occurrence, situated about 1 km southwest of Valentano. It is the rim of an old caldera, with a large number of loose volcanic ejecta scattered around. I was there in the summer of 2023, together with my Italian friend Igino Caponera. He lives in the region, without him I would never have found the right spots. The ejecta contain many vugs, in which a number of rare minerals can be present.
