In december 2020 I made the first book with a 100 photos from microminerals in my collection at the time. Now I have produced a new book, 50 pages with 195 photos of new arrivals since then, ranked by 24 countries and areas. Below pictures of the title page and an example page. Just recently my partner Inge and I did a holiday trip on Tasmania and the southern part of the Australian mainland. On Tasmania I had the opportunity, with the kind permission of the owner Adam Wright, to roam for a day on the dumps of the Adelaide mine, searching for good crocoite crystals. And with much success as you can...

From 15th to 17th September the 41th edition of the symposium of the British Micromount Society took place in Leicester. As a member I attended the event, which is a mix of presentations, exchanging microminerals, different contests, an auction, and most of all a pleasant gathering of old and new friends. Especially because the symposium due to the...

Just returned from our summer holiday in Italy, in Tuscany and Lazio. Besides enjoying the great Italian dolce vita I have been collecting in a few very interesting locations: the Podere dei Castellini slags near Sassetta, the La Marsiliana slags and the Serrabottini mine dumps near Massa Marittima. All trips were very successful, but it will be a...

As a member of the international micromount collector's group, that convenes every fortnight through Zoom, on june 28th it was my turn again to do an online presentation. Our international group - with people from Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands - became very good friends, the weather was as it should be, and the...

To my pleasant surprise in the latest edition of the wellknown German magazine Mineralienwelt an article was placed that gave attention to my website - a very nice appreciation of my work... If you would like to read it, here is the download-link:

In our two-weekly online meeting of our Micromount Zoom Club yesterday I had the privilege to do a presentation on the minerals of Broken Hill in New South Wales and some other locations in Australia. Here is the link, or just click on the photo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8TsQEW7E9w. The collection from there that I have was assembled by my...

Tiny creatures

06/01/2022

Every now and then I do some macrophotography outside the field of mineralogy. Roaming around in nature to find beautiful insects is a very pleasant activity. This video is a result of that - no creatures were harmed in the making of the photos.... Here the link: https://youtu.be/s1kXkI4eGps

Yesterday I visited the Antwerp mineral fair Minerant - the first real live mineral event after all the lockdowns. We all really loved it... Refreshing our friendships and contacts was a great pleasure after all this time...
